As a light goddess she was responsible for giving gems and precious metals like silver and gold their shine and intrinsic value. All the pieces in this section are fabricated entirely by hand from sterling silver sheet and wire using traditional silversmithing techniques. Each one is one of a kind.
Inspired by 17th century mourning jewelry and specifically winged skulls on gravestones, hand fabricated and stamped in Sterling silver with a layered skull.
The term "momento mori" is Latin and refers to a reminder of death or mortality. It is commonly translated to "remember that you must die"
The winged skull or "death's head" was particularly common among puritan communities who were against using traditional religious symbols like crosses and angels in their churches and grave markers, so they turned to "non religious" symbols like hourglasses and skulls. The winged skull is speculated to mean both death and rebirth concurrently
On a short 16 inch silver plated chain with lobster clasp to sit against the chest. The extra layer of silver gives it a nice weight.
Because this is a ooak piece this is the actual necklace you will receive
